Back home after my first Drupal conference and it was a great experience. I was obviously excited about Drupal's prospects before going, but the conference has renewed my confidence in the future of Drupal that is looking brighter than ever.

As a means to crystalize my thoughts I will try to sum up my experience of the conference and provide my own input on how I see (would like to see) the future of Drupal shaping up. The whole things is quite long so I broke it down to three parts - the community, the designers vs developers challenges and the small core movement.

Similarly, a statement of purpose for a community should provide the reasons a community exists and the spirit of the community in a few lines. A few days ago Movable Type launched Motion - with the tagline of "Own your brand across the web" this is a great first move from Movable Type to win over marketeers that will need better tools to manage brands on the web. Motion allows users to create their own social network while still taking advantage of activity on the larger social networks - and housing all this under on roof.

Our social identity is how we and others define ourselves and we may have several such identities depending on context (e.g. work, friends, family). As more and more of our social identity information is shared or even directly created online, managing it will become increasingly difficult and also increasingly important.
